Mazda Skyactiv engine ranked among the best

Mazda's 2.0 Skyactiv engine was ranked among the best.

It’s ranking season again, and Ward’s Auto has just released its 10 Best Engines list. While we think this should have been a no-brainer, unfortunately they don’t give Temecula Mazda a vote in the matter. Luckily, it didn’t matter, since the 2.0-liter Skyactiv DOHC 4-cylinder motor found on the 2012 Mazda3 in Temecula, CA made the list.

Although the engines weren’t ranked from first to last, we’re thinking given the incredible technology used in the Skyactiv engine process, that the Mazda engine would have ranked No. 1. Mazda has literally redone the entire car production process with its Skyactiv technology, including an engine that hasn’t been used by any other company.

The Skyactiv-G or gas engine (there’s also a diesel engine in the works) is an incredibly efficient direct-injection engine. The engine has a compression ratio of 14:1, which is the first such engine to ever do so for a mass production vehicle. Mazda partners with TomTom to show you the way

Mazda has partnered with TomTom to help drivers find their way.

If you’re like us at Temecula Mazda, the premier Mazda dealership in Temecula, you don’t like to ask for directions. Well, thanks to Mazda’s new partnership with TomTom navigation systems, you won’t have to anymore. Mazda has teamed up with TomTom to offer a dealer installed navigation system in the new CX-5 crossover.

The TomTom will actually be in the form of a hideaway module that will directly connect to the 5.8-inch touchscreen monitor that is equipped in the CX-5. The module will also feature an SD card which will allow car owners to update the software, map and other content from their home computer.

The partnership really marks a new chapter in vehicle technology. Instead of using a GPS system suction-cupped to your windshield, or trying to look at your phone while driving, this new system from Mazda will actually audibly navigate you while being fully integrated with the car. Mazda CX-5 nears release date

The Mazda CX-5 is close to being released.

Following its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, some of the details about the new 2013 Mazda CX-5 have become available. At Temecula Mazda, your Mazda dealership in Temecula, CA, we are drooling about its upcoming arrival, as it will be distributed to dealers in early 2012.

The Mazda CX-5 will be the second Mazda vehicle to use the new Skyactiv technology, following the Mazda3 Skyactiv that is currently available. The Skyactiv-G gasoline engine will be mated to an option of two outstanding transmissions – a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. The engine will produce 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. The car will also have a compression ratio of 14:1, which is where the true Mazda innovation shines, as it gets the maximum performance out of the engine. This allows it to reach an expected 33 miles per gallon highway and 26 miles per gallon city.

Mazda6 sales lead strong month for Mazda

The November numbers have been released, and Mazda had another great month in the sales category. The strong numbers are evident to us at Temecula Mazda, the premier Mazda dealership in Temecula, CA, as we have seen many Mazda models move away from the car lot into their new homes around California.

Mazda sold 18,432 vehicles in November, an increase of 20.4% versus the same month a year ago. The strong month put 2011 sales numbers up 9.6% over last year.

One of the strongest models for the month was the Mazda6, which had its overall best month since March 2009, with sales of 4,292 vehicles, a 53.9% increase. The reasons for the increased sales on the Mazda6 could be many, as it offers great room for riders and passengers while also being strong in the performance category. The standard models with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine can create 170 horsepower out of their dual overhead cam motors. The other models, which have a 3.7-liter six-cylinder engine, create an impressive 272 horsepower.

Both of the engine packages result in a smooth and fun ride, thanks to the impressive handling on the 2012 Mazda6 in Temecula, CA. Accolades continue to pour in for the Mazda Skyactiv technology – a completely new way of manufacturing cars using Mazda ingenuity. Skyactiv is a big reason that it’s an exciting time at Temecula Mazda, the premier Mazda dealership in Temecula, CA.

The most recent buzz concerning Skyactiv technology concerns the new engine put in the Mazda Demio compact car, known here as the Mazda2. The Skyactiv-G 1.3 gasoline engine in the car received the 2011-12 Car Technology of the Year award from the Japan Automotive Hall of Fame. The winner of the award is selected by the Automotive Hall of Fame committee, which includes 11 professors and researchers at the university level.

The committee used the following points in selecting the Mazda engine as the winner: advanced combustion characteristics; improved driving performance and value; and best balance of driving and environmental consideration.

Regenerative braking system is the next breakthrough for Mazda

One of those moments of awe came recently as we began to learn about the new ‘i-ELOOP’ regenerative braking system being implemented by Mazda. This innovative system uses a capacitor to temporarily store energy obtained from vehicle deceleration, recovering a portion of the car’s kinetic energy. In this way, Mazda expects the system to improve vehicle fuel economy by approximately 10 percent.

By using this technique, Mazda is finding a way to achieve hybrid-like fuel mileage and operation while avoiding an electric motor and battery altogether. It’s one of the many advances that Mazda is making that will increase the efficiency of the gas engine – a technology that has been around for ages but that has not before seen the type of advances that Mazda is now making. The new i-ELOOP technology will begin to appear on Mazda vehicles in 2012.

The 2012 Mazda3 Skyactiv is ready to roll.

At Temecula Mazda, we realize that you have an abundance of choices in the compact sedan market. But what we also know is that the 2012 Mazda3 Skyactiv is a clear standout in the category.

The Mazda3 underwent some significant cosmetic changes for 2012 that give it a more attractive look.
